Avo

From about March 2018 to Feb 2020 I worked at an entertainment technology startup in London called Playdeo. I was part of the small team who made and published Avo—an interactive iOS adventure and the studio’s first title.

It’s a story where you play as a sentient avocado, brought to life by a young inventor, Billie. The format of the experience sits somewhere between an open-world mobile game and a TV miniseries.

Episode 1 Playthrough

It looks a bit like AR, but it’s pre-recorded video, which you can ‘touch’ as you control a 3D-scanned avocado with legs. It’s no longer on the App Store, but the play-through of Episode 1 gives one a feel for it.

My role at Playdeo involved contributing to the creative development of our products, editing our video, and prototyping new IP.
